The program team will initially consist of the Director, two Associate Directors (from Ball State and South Asia), a Program Assistant (Graduate Assistant from Ball State), two faculty members (from south Asia), guest faculty, and clerical support (at Ball State University and from south Asia). As the program expands, the numbers of Associate Directors are expected to increase. The Center is directed
by Dr. Nihal Perera, Associate Professor of Urban Planning with the
support of Dr. Wes Janz, Associate Professor of Architecture from Ball
State and Jamal Ansari, Professor, School of Planning and Architecture,
New Delhi. The Director is among the most qualified in the College to
direct the Center. Dr. Perera was born in Sri Lanka, and has worked,
focused his research, and published books and articles on South Asian
society and space. He has the experience of directing two successful
south Asia field studies in 1999 and 2001, and has strong connections
with south Asian professionals and educators in the fields of design
and planning. The Program Assistant is expected to be a high caliber graduate student interested in the program and the region. |
